Shipley Arts Festival Composers' Competition

The 2010 Shipley Arts Festival Composition Competition is open to composers of any age or nationality and works written in any style or idiom are acceptable. The competition is held as part of the Shipley Arts Festival, one of the leading and innovative festivals in West Sussex, which has a positive and proactive policy of commissioning and programming new and exciting works alongside traditional and well loved music. The landscape of West Sussex has inspired many composers, notably Sir Edward Elgar, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Arnold Bax and John Ireland, and the Shipley Arts Festival is pleased to be part of this strong cultural heritage with the new competition and continued policy of supporting living composers.
