String Academy

The West Sussex Gifted and Talented String Academy brings together String players of outstanding ability to share their musical talent with the community.  Projects are based around Chamber Music and we have Summer courses which include performance with Jon Lord (Former keyboard player and founder member of Deep Purple) and a world premiere performance of Malcolm Singer's new work played with the Yehudi Menuhin School Orchestra.

The String Academy is very grateful to the commitment of pupils and their parents and the also for the support and encouragement of the Gifted and Talented department of the Children and Adult's Learning Service.  The Academy has a very rich future providing opportunity for String players many of whom have entered the music profession.

If you play a bowed String instrument and would like to join the String Academy please contact your school or college office for an application form.  Alternatively email Andrew Bernardi through website or West Sussex Gifted and Talented department and we will return full details and an application form.

Forthcoming Courses:

Thank you for making the most recent summer term Gifted and Talented String Academy with Jon Lord (Apr 25th - former Deep Purple keyboard player) and Yehudi Menuhin School (May 2/3) such a success.  We are look forward to continuing to create ever greater opportunities and are very grateful to the Yehudi Menuhin School and Jon Lord for carrying the project into next year.
